Terms and Conditions

1.Introduction

These terms and conditions outline the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of all parties involved in this agreement. “You” or “Your” refers to the customer, while “We,” “Us,” “Our,” or “Company” refers to Moving Specialists Limited. 

2. Our Quotation

2.1 Our quotation includes the agreed services and liability for your goods, subject to the conditions below. Exclusions include customs duties, taxes, or government fees. 

2.2 Additional charges may apply if: 

– The quotation is not accepted within 7 days or work is delayed beyond 3 months. 

– Costs change due to currency fluctuations, taxes, or freight charges beyond our control. 

– Work is performed outside normal hours (08:00–18:00), on weekends, or public holidays at your request. 

– Special requirements (e.g., parking fees, unsuitable access, or extra services) are needed. 

2.3 The number of vans and crew is an estimate and may vary on the moving day. 

3. Excluded Services

Unless agreed in writing, we will not: 

– Dismantle or assemble furniture, appliances, or fixtures. 

– Disconnect/reconnect utilities or handle fitted floor coverings. 

– Retrieve items from unsafe lofts. 

– Move or store prohibited items (see Clause 5). 

4. Your Responsibilities

4.1 You must: 

– Declare the value of goods in writing. 

– Obtain necessary permits, documents, and permissions. 

– Be present or represented during the move. 

– Ensure appliances are clean, dry, and properly prepared. 

– Provide accurate contact details and parking arrangements. 

4.2 Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in additional charges or cancellation of services. 

5. Prohibited Items

We will not move or store: 

– Dangerous goods (e.g., explosives, gas bottles, aerosols). 

– Valuables (e.g., jewellery, cash, deeds). 

– Perishables, plants, or live animals. 

– Items requiring special licenses (e.g., firearms). 

6. Payment Terms

6.1 Payment is required in advance or as follows: 

– A 20% deposit secures the booking. 

– The balance is due before unloading begins. 

– For moves outside the M60 area, full payment is required before departure. 

6.2 Late payments incur interest at 12.5% per month. 

7. Cancellation Policy

7.1 Charges apply if you cancel or postpone: 

– **More than 7 days before:** No charge. 

– **5–7 days before:** Up to 75% of the fee. 

– **Less than 5 days before:** 100% of the fee. 

7.2 Waiting time charges: £75/hour per van (within M60) or £80/hour (outside M60).

8. Liability for Loss or Damage

8.1 **Standard Liability:** 

– Maximum liability: £500.00

– Compensation covers repair or replacement costs, considering the item’s age and condition. 

8.2 **Limited Liability:** 

– Applies if no value is declared. 

– Maximum liability: £40 per item. 

8.3 Exclusions: 

– Damage from wear and tear, vermin, or improper packing. 

– Loss due to external events (e.g., war, natural disasters). 

9. Claims Process

9.1 Report visible damage/loss at delivery or within 7 days. 

9.2 Claims for hidden damage must be submitted within 7 days of discovery.

10. Storage Services

10.1 Storage charges may be revised with 3 months’ notice. 

10.2 Unpaid accounts may result in the sale/disposal of goods after 3 months’ notice.

11. General Terms

11.1 We may subcontract work, but these terms remain valid. 

11.2 Disputes unresolved by negotiation may go to arbitration. 

11.3 This agreement is governed by English law.
